K-1:  "Sometimes it's turkey - sometimes it's feathers" by Lorna Balian is an oldie but goodie.  This book was published by Abingdon Press in 1973.  Summary:  When she finds a turkey egg, Mrs. Gumm decides to hatch it and have a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.  Available in hardcover in the St. Regis School Library.

1-3: "Turkey Trouble" by Patricia Reilly Giff and illustrated by Blanche Sims was published by Bantam, Doubleday Dell in 1994 as #4 in the series "A Polk Street Special". Summary: It's going to be a great Thanksgiving week!  Ms. Rooney's class is having a special feast and competing in a Good Neighbors Contest.  But Emily has more on her mind.  Mother is having a baby and sister, Stacy, is acting strange.  Read this story and check out the recipes and crafts included in the back.  Available in paperback in the St. Regis School Library.

3-5:  "Return of the Indian" by Lynne Reid Banks is the sequel to "The Indian in the Cupboard".  It  was published in 1986 by Doubleday & Co.  Summary:  A year after he sends his Indian friend, Little Bear, back into the magic cupboard, Omri decides to bring him back only to find that he is close to death and in need of help.  Available in hardcover and paperback in the St. Regis School Library.

5-8:  "Seekers: The quest begins" by Erin Hunter is the first in a new series by this author of the successful "Warrior" series.  Published by HarperCollins in 2008, this popular book will be available at the Scholastic Book Fair opening on November 17 for preview.  Summary:  Three young bears of different species - one black, one polar and one grizzly - travel on a perilous quest to the Northern Lights, escorting a shape-shifting grizzly cup whose destiny will affect them all.
